I can’t wait for the new Cash movie. I just saw this video for the first time… absolutely breathtaking, with the flock of birds flying toward the sky just like Johnny left this earth shortly afterward. I felt myself choking up because of the power of what he is saying in this song. The video is so reminiscent of a younger man, and yet through his accomplishments and trophy case, he still sings,
“And you can have it all; my empire of dirt….”

I love this song and have listened to it so many times. The haunting lyrics are awesome.
I can’t wait to see the movie. I have been excited about it for months. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
I agree, James. I don’t ever watch music videos, but I heard this was one of the best ones ever.
I do hope that this movie isn’t disappointing. I’ve heard good advance reviews about the singing and acting- and Joaquin Phoenix looks like the spitting image of Johnny, in my opinion.

I know, isn’t that crazy that Johnny Cash would cover NIN? Well, he covers Depeche Mode and other artists on the same album, and makes it all sound like gold. What a legend…
Wow, that Green Day video is emotional. The war images are hard see, especially as we just hit the point of 2,000 soldiers killed.
The 2000 soldiers died for OUR country. They signed up to do what they did…no regrets. Don’t let the media tell you any different.
The media should HONOR them. I am from a military family and everyone chose this lifestyle because they LOVE America and the freedom it offers, thanks to the thousands who fight and give up their lives. America ROCKS and there are a lot of happy people in Iraq who voted for the new DEMOCRACY and constitution they didn’t have under the Dictatorship of Saddam.
Remember, It’s GREAT to be an American where at least we know we’re free…and we won’t forget the men who die to give that right to us….thanks to our brave voluntary Military. Some of them they die for us, they understand that when they sign up, they are enthusiastic about defending our Country and helping other Countries become free because that helps us in the long run
So, airforce/army child, you’re saying that I shouldn’t be moved by images of young men being killed on the battlefield because “they signed up to die for our country”? I’m not sure what your point is.
I haven’t said anything about the media; simply that war images are emotional these days.
Well, you wouldn’t know about the “2000 Milestone” if the Media weren’t shoving it down our throats. We heard when they hit 1000 killed, and now 2000…how much have we heard about all the good that’s happening over there. I didn’t see big front page stories when Iraq signed in their new constitution, an even bigger milestone, thanks to OUR AMERICAN TROOPS. The Media wasn’t jumping on “that” bandwagon. God forbid things are starting to go better over there.
My point is, I wish everyone gave them more credit where due and showed the honor that goes along with the deaths.
I am just saying that so many people take for granted all of the positives that not only the American people will benefit from, but so will the rest of the world including the Iraqies.
God Bless America and may we further our efforts for world peace.

Im not posting anonymously, I don’t have a blog to link myself to. I wasn’t saying you did not have respect, I was venting about the media calling 2000 deaths a “milestone”. Milestones are things accomplished, not the tragedy that occurs getting it done. It is mockery for them to equate military deaths to milestones without mentioning any good that has come out of it.
