Happy May Day!

When I was little, maybe 4, I remember learning about May Baskets.  I recall leaving baskets of farm-picked flowers on my neighbors’ doorsteps… then running away.  Do any of you know the origins of May Day?

This morning when was stepping out the door to go to work, I narrowly avoided stepping on this May Basket- on our steps!  It also came with 4 beautifully iced cookies that were wrapped in pink cellophane, but we’d already eaten them by the time I took this photo.  It completely brightened my day.

Heh…

I have a bad habit. A habit I know is silly, unproductive, and a giant money-waste. I practice it most when I’m in an airport or home during summers, so at least I can say I don’t do it all the time, right?

I read trashy celebrity magazines. Yep, it’s true- but I have a good excuse. My former roommate got me hooked. She subscribed to US Weekly when we lived together, and when she moved out the magazines just kept coming every week. She let me keep it, I swear- she converted to an anti-fashion-magazine-reading, having a more virtuous conscience and all.

Then, the subscription ran out recently. I had nothing to look forward to when I went to get my mail on Saturday afternoons. Instead, I had to check web sites like Entertainment Weekly and People Online to find out Brad and Angelina’s adoption news, or the scoop on Anna Nicole’s baby. But then my luck turned around.

Rob received a post card in the mail last week notifying him that his Premiere magazine was no longer being published. As a replacement, they’re going to send him US Weekly until the end of his subscription.

Welcome back, bad habit.
