It was a lonely summer day, July 2005, when I began to seriously consider creating my own blog (after all, I had a full blown blog-reading addiction). Driving in my car and trying to talk myself out of the nagging feeling that told me I should just go for it, I asked myself, “But what would I call my blog?”.
I was unsure of what my “niche” would be, how I would define myself or my blog. I felt like the coffee afficionado blog spot had been filled, and the young/frazzled/sometimes-hip teacher blog had already been done. Besides, I’m not very hip.
Anyway, I started thinking about a t-shirt of mine that had a cute little cartoon cucumber with “Cool Cucumber” written across the front. Friends who knew about my crazy loathing of this green salad vegetable thought my shirt was hilarious, considering my neurosis. I would pretty much rather eat anything in the entire world, even black licorice. Realizing that I could capitalize on my hatred for an entire group of vegetables such as the gourd was the beginning of a new life for me.
Today, I have my own blog, my own domain name, I’m newly married to Electrolund (thanks to this blog), and I’m living the good life. All due to the cucumber.
